The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is recognized as one of the best seaside parks in the world. It’s an amusement park renowned for great rides, history, beach setting, and strides toward sustainability—not an easy task for an amusement park.

Operating since 1907, two of the rides are National Historic Landmarks—the 1924 Giant Dipper wooden roller coaster and the Looff Carousel.

There are Indoor arcades, two-story miniature golf course, and a laser tag arena. Admission is free but rides and parking are not.

The Boardwalk spans a wide sandy beach along Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary where it’s not unusual to see otters, dolphins, sea lions, and even whales swimming just offshore.

Their recycling and reuse programs are continually recognized by the State of California and the City of Santa Cruz. Recognized as a “Clean Oceans Business” and “Bicycle Friendly Business.”

When you go:

Did you know that plastic straws and cigarette butts are at the tops of waste that makes it into the bay and harms sea life? Please put butts in a garbage receptacle, never on the ground or in the sand and recycle straws (or better yet, don’t use one).

Traffic and parking is difficult. Be sure to ride-share.
