Pi Day celebrates the mathematical constant pi (π) and to eat lots of pie.

What is pi?
Pi is the circumference of a circle (distance around a circle) divided by its diameter (distance across). The circumference of any circle is 3.14x times its diameter.

Why does pi matter?
You might not be aware of it, but Pi is used in most mathematical calculations for construction, science, communications, music theory, aeronautics, and much more.

The mystery of pi
Pi is an irrational number, it has an infinite number of digits. The constant π helps us understand our universe with greater clarity. Computers have calculated pi to more than 22 trillion digits.

It’s all encompassing and ancient, the first calculation of π was done by Archimedes of Syracuse (287–212 BC), one of the greatest mathematicians of the ancient world.

So we celebrate pi with pie
Whether it’s a pizza pie or your favorite cream or fruit pie, celebrate the mysteries of the universe and MATH with a tasty treat.
