Watsonville & Pajaro Valley

Add Photos

Farming, wetlands, and rich natural resources.

Most of the coastal land adjacent to Watsonville is part of the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary. Heading away from the coast, the backdrop is  the southern end of the Santa Cruz Mountains. The Pajaro River is our southern border and is the dividing line between Santa Cruz and Monterey County.

Our communities include Corralitos, Freedom, La Selva Beach, Pajaro and Royal Oaks.

Why we ♥ Watsonville & the Pajaro Valley

History.

Protected wetlands. The Watsonville sloughs are a system of fresh water sloughs with native vegetation which extend from the city to the ocean. This slough system is only one of a few remaining wetland areas of its kind in California. The wetlands are home several species of fish and over 200 species of waterfowl, raptors and song birds. It’s also a vital stopping off point on the Pacific Flyway for the thousands of migrating birds. Visit Elkhorn Slough and the Watsonville ….

Mount Madonna Park. Officially in Santa Clara County, this park straddles the crest of the Santa Cruz mountains with views to the west of Monterey Bay and Santa Clara Valley to the east. A favorite park for hiking, horseback riding and camping.

Gizdich Ranch. Pick your favorite fruit of the season right off the tree or vine; then, picnic among the apple trees and the hills. Take home a jar (or two) of fresh berry jams, a jug of our fresh pressed apple juice, and eat the best pies this side of the Rockies.
